Sustainability and Social Responsibility
Ambitious. Progressive. Climate-orientated.
Trendsetting technologies and responsible operations
Business Aviation consistently focuses on sustainability. We have been participating in the EU ETS, the European Emissions Trading Scheme, since 2012. The industry promotes sustainable and responsible aviation by using environmentally friendly technologies such as sustainable aviation fuels, and optimizing operational processes.
Lightweight materials, efficient propulsion systems and aerodynamic structures have been standard in business aviation for years. These developments show that the industry is breaking new, climate-friendly ground as an innovation leader.
Aero-Dienst and Vaeridion: On the way to the electric ambulance flight.
An outstanding example of forward-looking, climate-optimized innovation is our GBAA member Aero-Dienst from Nuremberg, which is working with Vaeridion from Munich to realize the Microliner project by 2030. The aim is to get a battery-powered ambulance jet into the air.
Innovate2Fly (I2F): Climate protection combi-certificates
Business Aviation’s newly developed Innovate2Fly program offers innovative Klimaschutzkombizertifikate (climate protection combi-certificates). These combine voluntary emissions offsetting with investments in future technologies to reduce emissions. While the compensation serves as a transitional solution, the second part is aimed at the complete avoidance of emissions In contrast to pure offsetting certificates, I2F ensures that not only existing emissions are offset, but that sustainable innovations are also promoted.
Yesterday, today, tomorrow: Business aviation as a technology pioneer and trailblazer for the future
The industry is faced with the task of implementing its transformation strategies, increasing the pressure on the production and distribution of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF), establishing technological developments in practice and realizing efficiency gains in day-to-day operations. As a technology incubator, Business Aviation has broken new ground and is a driver of innovation and technological developments in aviation. The first all-electric, albeit still single-engine, aircraft are already on the ground today, paving the way for climate-friendly large-scale aviation through scaling effects.
